Dr. Emily Hayden, MD, MHPE is an attending physician in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) who specializes in telehealth. Her first decade at MGH was focused on healthcare simulation and she developed the TeleSimulation Program at the MGH Learning Laboratory. Since 2016 she has taken the lead on telehealth in the Department of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Hayden is the inaugural Director of Telemedicine for the MGH Department of Emergency Medicine. In this position, she oversees a provider-to-provider telemedicine program that aims to increase the number of patients retained at community hospitals. Dr. Hayden also manages the MGH Department of Emergency Medicine faculty in the Partners HealthCare on Demand direct-to-patient telehealth program. Nationally, Dr. Hayden is the founding chair of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine Telehealth Interest Group and the Chair of the 2020 SAEM Consensus Conference on the topic “Telehealth and Emergency Medicine: A Consensus Conference to Map the Intersection of Emergency Medicine and Telehealth.”
