The WVU Department of Emergency Medicine maintains a thriving clinical practice—including WVU Medicine J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital (52,000 visits/year, Level 1 Trauma Center), United Hospital Center (56,000 visits/year), St. Joseph's Hospital (26,000 visits/year), two WVU Urgent Care centers, WVU Student Health, WVU International Travel Clinic, and an internal locum tenens practice. Our Department is home to a competitive residency program of 30 residents—attracting top-notch housestaff from medical schools across the country; we also offer fellowships in emergency ultrasound and primary care sports medicine along with a growing EMS section.
