Brian D. Hodges, MD, PhD, FRCPC, is Professor in the Faculty of Medicine and at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto; the Richard and Elizabeth Currie Chair in Health Professions Education Research at the Wilson Centre and Executive-Vice President Education at the University Health Network (Toronto General, Toronto Western, Princess Margaret, Toronto Rehab Hospitals and the Michener Institute). He is a practicing psychiatrist and teacher. His research focuses on assessment, competence, compassion and the future of the health profession. His work has been recognized with the British Association for Studies in Medical Education Gold Medal (2014), the Association of American Medical Colleges Flexner Award (2015) and the Karolinska Institutet Prize for Research in Medical Education (2016).
He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and an MD at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. He then pursued a residency in psychiatry at University of Toronto. He earned a Masters and then a PhD in Education at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education in Toronto and he holds a Diploma in Health Economics and Social Sciences from the University of Paris.
Jennifer S. Myers, MD, FACP, FHM

Jennifer S. Myers, MD, FHM, FACP, is an academic hospitalist and Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. At Penn, she is the Associate Designated Institutional Official for Quality and Safety in Graduate Medical Education for the University of Pennsylvania Health System. She also directs a fellowship program at Penn for post-graduate fellows or junior faculty in the area of quality and safety research, policy, and administration.
In 2012, she led the development of the Quality and Safety Educators Academy, the first national faculty development program designed to provide faculty with educational and professional development strategies to help fill the current unmet need for quality and safety educators in our nations’ medical schools and teaching hospitals. In 2010, she received the Clinical Excellence Award from the Society for Hospital Medicine, and in 2011 was named a Josiah Macy Faculty Scholar for her innovations in medical education.
Dr. Myers has spoken and written nationally on patient safety issues in healthcare as well as the need for integration between graduate medical education and health care systems.
Yvonne Steinert, PhD

Dr. Yvonne Steinert, is a clinical psychologist and Professor of Family Medicine. She is also the Director of the Centre for Medical Education and the Richard and Sylvia Cruess Chair in Medical Education. Her educational interests relate to teaching and learning in medicine, the impact of faculty development on the individual and the organization, and the continuing professional development of faculty members.
Mary G. Turco, EdD, FSACME

Mary G. Turco, EdD, FSACME is clinical associate professor of Medicine at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth and Principal (Vice Chair) for Scholarship Enhancement and Academic Professional Development in the Department of Medicine at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock (D-H) Medical Center in New Hampshire, USA. Her academic interests are education outcomes research, CME/CPD scholarship, leadership, professionalism, and gender in medicine. She has taught at the undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate levels and been involved with many global health initiatives. From 2004 to 2014 she directed Dartmouth’s Center for Continuing Education in the Health Sciences and Office of Continuing Medical Education. In the Society for Academic Continuing Medical Education (SACME), Mary is chair of the Strategic Affairs Committee, Past President, and an inaugural member of the Academy of Fellows. She is co-editor of the book Continuing Professional Development in Medicine and Healthcare: Better Education, Better Patient Outcomes (Wolters Kluwer, 2018) and co-author of the chapter Learning to Lead in an Academic Health System. She has contributed articles and chapters to a variety of journals and books including Continuing Medical Education: Looking Back, Planning Ahead (Dartmouth College Press, 2011). In 2016 she co-chaired the World Congress on Continuing Professional Development in the Health Professions. Turco earned her doctoral degree at the Harvard University Graduate School of Education.
