I wanted to design an unexpected star quilt by playing with high contrast and a large scale design. The Island Batik provided black, grey and white fabrics are perfect. The dancing stars and color placement created a secondary design, three flowers. Subdividing the white space with free-motion quilted repeating patterns, straight lines and a triangular filler design is a nice contrast to bear claw's curvy design.
