This quilt is based on the triple decker style homes in Somerville, MA. These blocks are paper pieced, and I created each one to highlight characteristic details while keeping the overall design simplified. Somerville is one of the most densely populated cities in America, and the organization of the blocks evokes that feeling of close quarters. The candy-colored pastel siding is typical and represents a joy and pride in the community.
