I made this quilt for the 2019 Pantone Color of the Year challenge. The color, living coral, made me think of Art Deco so I took my inspiration from a brass elevator door from that time period. The top was a planned improvisation, meaning that the cutting was done freehand but the design was preconceived. I wanted the different shades of coral to be the focal point and to really celebrate this lovely and versatile hue.
