I played with solids cut up in strips of different width and not necessarily in a perfecly shaded manner, but with the colors I had at hand. I then inserted narrow strips of striped black and white fabric to form open diamonds. One can go inside the diamonds or come out because they are open. When something is open you have the freedom to go in or get out, the choice is up to you.
