This quilt was inspired by a picture I took of the Wildwood trail in Portland during a foggy morning. Since the light was coming from behind the trees, I chose to make the background lighter and put the darker colors in the foreground. Creating an additional layer of trees through the quilting makes the forest appear even more dense when viewed up close. The trees were hand appliquéd then top stitched.
