Indigo Bows was made from secondhand fabric dyed with indigo by the quilter. The composition was inspired by the subtle and unpredictable ways in which indigo dye varies to produce many rich and different shades. It was hand quilted with pearl cotton, and due to yardage limitations, a stretch of red binding fills a corner where there was not enough indigo to finish the perimeter, becoming both a utilitarian and deliberately aesthetic solution.
