1135 - The American Dream

"The Rat Race", a fable within the novel, Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIHM by Robert C. O'Brien, is an allegory for the dangers of a blind pursuit of progress. In the story, residents of a town first benefit from the convenience of technology, then end up working much harder to achieve half the results. The quilt mathematically illustrates the progression of labor required to achieve a task.
