Seeing photos of the Women's March in January of 2017, I felt energized and hopeful. Though initially I had mixed feeling about the pink hats, I was awestruck by how they worked as a strong visual marker of a place, time and message. This was an improvisational piece. The handquilting, meant to echo the word "Resist" that I had needle-turn appliquéd, also came to represent how many stitches, how many people, it takes to make a movement.
