This quilt is part of a yearlong project in which I set about to explore the possibilities and limits of the traditional "Irish chain" layout. In this version, the blocks that make up the links of the chain have been liberated from their expected rigid grid formation and reconfigured randomly, like a chain that has been dropped and tangled.
