The cryptic code stitched into a layer of fabric in the lower right corner was the inspiration for this quilt. Bits of fabric cut, delineated, arrayed and preserved like scientific specimens represent the mapping and cataloging of characteristics of myself—examined, loved, tidy, understood, murky, ugly, hateful and hidden. Embroidered code represents a labeling system and incomplete squares represent the unfinished exercise of self-reflection.
