It was a magical place, but now it is almost gone, a victim of climate change and erosion. In the 25 years since I first set foot there with my students it has gotten smaller and smaller. The little marsh that is left is too vulnerable to high tides so the Chesapeake Bay Foundation has closed the lodge that was an education center. Soon it will be entirely gone.
