In Norwegian, the word for "light" is lys. Since moving to Norway, I've been acutely aware of light throughout all the seasons. In the summer, the light persists to create long, lingering days. In the winter, sunlight appears for a short time each day, but just as with most Scandinavian countries, people here weave light into the winter months with candles and paper star lanterns. Lys celebrates all of the different varieties of light.
