Pantera Saint-Montaigne is a self-taught printmaker and textile artist. Working primarily with fabric, she began studying the craft of screen printing, block printing and other textile arts in 2013. She is the founder of Brooklyn Mojo, Inc., which brings to market fresh, unexpected textiles that celebrate the beauty of hand-printing.
Brooklyn born, Pantera has always been a collector of creative skills. A skilled musician and singer/songwriter, she uses the discipline of practice, trial and error, and refinement as part of her artistic process.
Her printmaker’s eye is drawn to the bold graphics of mid-century modern motifs and the use of “old school” techniques. She begins most of her textile designs by working with a physical object. Her use of Rubylith masking film, paper cuttings, found objects and rubber carving blocks invites a freestyle approach to creating and often leads to surprising and delightful results.
