Part A: Pharmaceutical Challenges in the Disaster Setting: Discussing Gaps and Resources to Address Response Challenges
Unplanned events – such as natural disasters or civic unrest – can result in lack of access to life-saving drugs and interventions. In this session, the presenters will share their experiences with addressing pharmaceutical needs during immediate response, providing both a local and federal perspective, and will share resources that address key challenges for local planners.
Part B: Pharmacists as Preparedness Partners
This session will review the steps taken and tools used to engage pharmacists in pandemic and medical countermeasure planning. Presenters will feature both the challenges and lessons learned in Minnesota, as well as identify strategies to increase pharmacy engagement and formalize partnerships during preparedness planning.
