Track 2: Enhancing Use of Medical Countermeasures and Non-Pharmaceutical Interventions
CDC’s Cities Readiness Initiative (CRI) is a federally funded program designed to enhance preparedness in the nation’s largest population centers, where nearly 60% of the population resides, to effectively respond to large public health emergencies needing life-saving medicines and medical supplies. In 2017, Wisconsin had 19 Cities Readiness Initiative jurisdictions. To reduce workload and increase efficiencies, the state worked with local health agencies to group 12 CRI jurisdictions into four zones, thereby decreasing Wisconsin’s total to ten. State and local representatives will discuss this change, describing the process, the benefits, and the challenges.
