Part A: Building Strong Foundations with Youth Preparedness Programs
This session will highlight youth preparedness and suggests that what is considered "youth" in terms of preparedness and community resiliency be redefined. Helping to create stability in the face of uncertain futures, the work being done with teens through Community- or Municipal Ambassador Programs can help to prepare youth for the years ahead. Program format and exercise data will be shared, and presenters will also explore the benefits of linking collegiate internships with the Medical Reserve Corps.
Part B: Betting on the Future with Youth Preparedness Programs
The Youth Preparedness Program is an outreach and education initiative that addresses youth emergency preparedness in an accommodating, comprehensive, and sustainable way. This session will detail the youth preparedness program's development, describe how using Medical Reserve Corps volunteers makes this outreach possible, and discuss the program’s evolution.
