Track 2: Enhancing Use of Medical Countermeasures and Non-Pharmaceutical Interventions
The relationships among planning, training, and exercising is nothing new in emergency management. However, over a three-year period, Fairfax County Health Department in Northern Virginia used those relationships to update plans, adjust training content, and exercise various components of their medical countermeasures plan to prepare staff for the upcoming three-day multi-jurisdictional CRI exercise. “Capital Fortitude” included 21 jurisdictions across four states. This session highlights the importance of integration between the planning and training programs, and describes how continuous relationships among planning updates, training adjustments, and exercises helped to build a path to success for Fairfax County far beyond the exercise.
