Track 1: Building and Sustaining Resilient Communities
The ability of jurisdictions to communicate public health alerts, warnings, and notifications is vital to effective emergency preparedness and response. Developing inclusive communication messages effective for the whole community includes planning for individuals with access and functional needs, who may be either at greater risk or disproportionately impacted from the incident. To assist jurisdictions in inclusive communication planning, CDC developed a toolkit that guides public health planners through a four-step process to integrate a community outreach information network to support risk communication planning and information sharing. Together, through this partner network, emergency managers and other stakeholders can have far-reaching strategies to disseminate risk communication messages.
