Track 4: Enhancing Public Health, Healthcare, and Emergency Management Systems
The Stephen M. Lawlor Medical Intelligence Center (MIC) serves as the City of Boston’s public health and healthcare coordinating center, and functions as the Department Operations Center for the Boston Public Health Commission (BPHC). Boston is home to numerous human and social service organizations that coordinate to support those impacted by emergencies. Standardized practices and protocols are essential for information sharing and resource management for any incident that requires coordination amongst these partners. The Boston Healthcare Preparedness Coalition developed a new approach to assessing their region’s hazard vulnerabilities. This session will explore the Boston HPC’s new approach, which altered existing HVA models and methodology, and incorporated human and social services perspectives.
