Interim State Epidemiologist

Sherri L. Davidson, Ph.D., M.P.H., has served as the Interim State Epidemiologist for the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) since 2016 and President of the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CSTE) 2020-2021. Dr. Davidson received her B.S. in Microbiology from Auburn University at Montgomery in Montgomery, AL, graduating summa cum laude. She earned her Ph.D. in Epidemiology and her Master of Public Health degree, with a concentration in Epidemiology and International Health and Global Studies, from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in Birmingham, AL. She has worked for the ADPH for 18 years, within the Bureau of Communicable Disease and currently leads the Epidemiology, Surveillance, and Informatics Branch within the Infectious Diseases & Outbreaks Division.
Additional memberships include the Alabama Public Health Association (AlPHA) and UAB National Alumni Society. Certifications include Certified Public Manager and Zumba® fitness instructor.
