San Bernardino County Department of Public Health
Jake Campbell is currently the Data Manager for the San Bernardino County Department of Public Health (DPH). He leads the Research, Assessment, and Planning Division charged with overseeing the analytical operations for the department. This includes currently overseeing the team of Statistical Analysts, Epidemiologists, and GIS Analysts charged with supporting the COVID-19 response and providing analytical information to assist in planning, decision-making, operational reporting, and performance assessment. His team also supports the data and analytical needs of nearly 25 major programs within Public Health, some of which including Infectious Disease, Preparedness and Response, Animal Care and Control, Clinical Operations, Environmental Health, Vital Records and Statistics, Health Education, and more.
He earned his Ph.D. in Public Policy Analysis and Research Methodology from the Claremont Colleges, and also holds an M.A. in Public Policy and a Master of Public Administration from CSU Long Beach. He has worked as an adjunct professor teaching graduate courses at CSU Long Beach for over 7 years, including courses in program evaluation, emergency planning and management, and government budgeting and finance. Prior to joining the Department of Public Health, he spent 2.5 at Claremont Graduate University as a Senior Administrator supporting research and analytics operations across the university. He has also served as a Policy Analyst with the Government Accountability Office (GAO), after having spent 5.5 years on active duty with the United States Coast Guard planning and executing aerial response missions for search and rescue, law enforcement, and environmental protection missions.
