Jessica Wieder is the Acting Director of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Center for Radiation Information and Outreach. For the past ten years, Jessica has been the public information officer for EPA’s Radiological Emergency Response Team. Jessica was part of the team tasked with communicating EPA’s efforts and data during the 2011 Fukushima nuclear accident.
Jessica co-chairs the intergovernmental Nuclear/Radiological Communications Working Group. With her guidance, this group developed the nuclear detonation messaging document Improvised Nuclear Device Response and Recovery: Communicating in the Immediate Aftermath. Jessica was also the lead author for the communications chapter for the second edition of the White House’s Planning Guidance for Response to a Nuclear Detonation.
