Alyssa Rowell has more than a decade of diverse experience in the Emergency Services - having operated as a volunteer firefighter, EMT, BLS Instructor, and 911 Emergency Services Dispatcher while completing her MA in Emergency and Disaster Management. Since then, Alyssa has served for the recent history of major NYS disasters including Tropical Storms Irene and Lee, and Superstorm Sandy at the local and state levels. She began her role in Public Health as an Emergency Preparedness and Outreach Coordinator at the county level. Alyssa now serves as the Planning and Deliverables Coordinator for the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) Office of Health Emergency Preparedness (OHEP) where she participates in and leads the planning and response efforts for All-Hazards incidents, including those with Cross Border and Tribal Nations partners. Alyssa is also a lecturer for SUNY School of Public Health, instructing the course Emergency Preparedness: The Public Health Perspective.
