Regulatory Affairs and Clincial Guidelines Team Lead
CAPT Yon Yu is the team lead for Regulatory Affairs and Clnical Guidelines Team with the Division of Preparedness and Emerging Infections in the National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In this capacity, CAPT Yu provides scientific regulatory expertise, consultation, and guidance with respect to various medical countermeasures that are integral to the CDC’s preparedness and response efforts regarding chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and emerging threats. She provides leadership and oversight in ensuring regulatory utilization mechanisms required for the deployment and clinical use of various medical countermeasures stockpiled in the Strategic National Stockpile for potential public health emergencies (e.g., pandemic influenza, anthrax, botulism, smallpox) and other investigational medical products exclusively available through CDC for rare diseases (e.g., parasitic diseases, diphtheria).
Prior to joining the CDC in 2006, CAPT Yu was a Senior Regulatory Project Management Officer with the Division of Special Pathogen and Transplant Products at the Food and Drug Administration. She was a clinical pharmacist at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC prior to joining the FDA. She has a bachelor of science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Maryland and a doctor of pharmacy from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy.
