Resources & Logistics Coordinator
Kayla Maestas received her Bachelors of Sociology in 2013 from the University of New Mexico. In 2014 she began working as a case manager with New Mexico Human Services Division (NM HSD). While at NM HSD she was able to assist the local community find resources and assistance available to help with individuals who were impoverished. In 2017 she transitioned into the emergency management field as the Performance Outcomes Coordinator for the New Mexico Department of Health-Bureau of Health Emergency Management (NMDOH BHEM). Here she managed and tracked workplan activities as a part of a set of deliverables due to CDC. Kayla also assisted with grant development and submission by working with subject matter experts as well as state and local partners to complete self-assessments, develop goals and workplan activities. Currently Kayla is the Resources and Logistics Coordinator for NMDOH BHEM. In this position she works with federal, state and local partners to maintain an updated and visible asset management system. Through lessons learned and best practices, she has been able to show the benefits of asset management and has also created policy and accountability when it comes to resource management. She has trained state and local partners throughout New Mexico in utilizing resource management systems for day-to-day business as well as utilizing resource management during emergent events. She looks forward to utilizing new and improved techniques as well as growing from lessons learned to help resource management for the state of New Mexico.
