Training and Communications Coordinator
Monroe County Public Health
Thomas Saunders is a Training and Communications Coordinator for Monroe County Department of Public Health. Beginning his professional career with U.S. Airways Revenue Accounting, he quickly began climbing the latter and this is where he got his first taste of training. By assisting his coworkers through the accounting probationary period, he fell in love with the process and continued this passion in the higher education industry. After seven years in this industry, Thomas and his wife made the decision to be closer to family and made a move across the country. He knew that he wanted to pursue employment in the training field and so began his search.
Thomas found the emergency preparedness field by accident when responding to a job posting for a training position. He did not know that four years later, his passion for training would evolve to include a passion for preparedness. Connecting with people ensures our ability to bridge gaps and make sure there is cohesive understanding. Bridging this gap when it comes to emergency preparedness can be a matter of life or death. Thomas does not take this responsibility lightly and now has an even deeper passion for what he does.
Thomas currently lives in LeRoy, NY with his wife, Holly and 14 month old Camille (Millie). He enjoys golfing, riding his bike, and family cookouts. He is looking forward to the spring where he can go for bike rides with his family and bring his daughter for the first time.
