Lisa’s work in emergency preparedness first started as a bedside nurse. She served on a hospital hazmat decon team, the Bio-Containment Unit, and as an MRC unit member. She responded as part of NGO teams, to the Haiti earthquake and the subsequent cholera outbreak. For the past 6-years, she has worked for Contra Costa County Health Services as part of the Hospital Preparedness Program grant. She is the coordinator for the Contra Costa Med-Health Preparedness Coalition, which is very active with more than 100 members. She also manages a successful, state and nationally recognized Medical Reserve Corps Unit. This unit has deployed to support medical operations during five major wildfires in Northern California. Additionally, she has served as a nurse for the National Disaster Medical System, Disaster Medical Assistance Team for 8 years, and is now a Deputy Commander for the system.
