Public Health Emergency Preparedness Supervisor
Marcee Shaughnessy has been working in local public health for 12 years. Currently she supervises the Public Health Emergency Preparedness Unit in Hennepin County, MN; population 1.2 million. She has 5 staff members dedicated to public health preparedness, response, and recovery initiatives. In this position, she has responded to two separate school-based tuberculosis exposure incidents, a large and lengthy measles outbreak, a small behavioral health response resulting from a school explosion, the largest homeless encampment in state of MN, a lengthy hepatitis A outbreak, and a mass care shelter response. Prior to this position, she was the Public Health Department Manager at Carver County, MN; population 103,000. There, she directed mandated and discretionary public health operations including public health nursing, health promotion and emergency preparedness; and she acted as Incident Commander during the 2009 H1N1 pandemic influenza response.
