Presentation Description: Drug-device combination is a effective approach to enable delivery of many biologics and and reduce healthcare cost significantly, in which with development of drug-device combination products, many hospital care patients can be cared at home. To develop drug0device combination products, drug-device compatibility is significant in deciding material selection for devices and formulation development. Traditionally, drug-device compatibility is carried out by filling devices with formulations containing drugs which is tedious and time consuming. Additionally, there is a lack of mechanistic understanding based on this approach. Thus, there is a urgent need to find a quick screening method, which can also provide mechanistic understanding. Quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCMD) can measure not only the adsorption of biologics at material surfaces but also viscoelastic property of the adsorbed layer. Therefore, QCMD can function as screening tool in drug-device development. This talk will highlight some of merits of QCMD in quick screening.
