Antigen and adjuvant loaded biodegradable particles are capable of being actively taken up by antigen-presenting cells (APCs) thereby stimulating potent antigen-specific immune responses against the target antigen. Various formulation parameters including the size of the particles, composition and type of the polymer used to prepare the particles and the choice of loaded adjuvants can be used to modulate the overall immune response generated. Adjuvant loaded particles can be synergistically used in combination with other therapeutic strategies such as viral based vaccines, chemotherapeutics and checkpoint blockade agents.
Upon completion, participants will understand that particular delivery of antigens and adjuvants can enhance the antigen-specific immune response stimulated.
