Joshua Siva, BS, MS. Mr. Silva is currently in his final year of Ph.D. training in the Clinical and Experimental Therapeutics graduate program at the University of Southern California (USC) School of Pharmacy. While earning his Ph.D. degree, he is also earning a second Master's degree in Management of Drug Development at the USC School of Pharmacy Regulatory & Quality Sciences Department. Mr. Silva’s primary discipline is pharmacology, with a major interest in the field of alcohol addiction and the consequences of alcohol abuse, particularly alcohol-related liver damage. His research and efforts under the mentorship of Dr. Daryl Davies is focused on discovering and translating novel natural compounds (e.g., dihydromyricetin [DHM]) for the treatment of alcoholic liver disease (ALD), and developing innovative combinations of natural products and/or pharmaceutical compounds that can be repurposed (e.g., ivermectin) for the treatment of alcohol use disorder (AUD).
