Nancy Lewen graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in chemistry. She worked in the environmental industry prior to working in the pharmaceutical industry. A Research Fellow at Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS), she supervised the atomic spectroscopy laboratory there before retiring after 30 years. She has presented as an invited speaker at numerous conferences on the topic of metals of analysis in pharmaceutial applications. She has also taught numerous short courses and written everal papers on the subject, as well. Nancy has been the recipient of the NJBAR Outstanding Woman of Science award, BMS Chemistry Leadership award, BMS BMSIARC Award for Outstanding Contribution to Analytical Chemistry, USP Volunteer Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Standard-Setting Process and the USP Award for "An Innovative Response to a Public Health Challenge." Nancy is the chair of the USP Chemical Analysis Expert Committee for the 2020-2025 cycle, and has served as a USP volunteer for over 15 years.
Nancy now owns a consulting company and lives in Oklahoma, where she and her husband can storm-chase and see the Milky Way at night.
