Dr. Michael A. Repka is Chair and Distinguished Professor of the Department of Pharmaceutics & Drug Delivery and Director of the Pii Center for Pharmaceutical Technology at The University of Mississippi. Dr. Repka received his B.S. in Pharmacy and Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics from the University of Texas at Austin. He has over 28 years of experience utilizing hot-melt extrusion (HME) for pharmaceutical dosage forms and devices. He pioneered drug delivery via HME, including techniques to deliver poorly soluble drugs. He has demonstrated that continuous manufacturing is a reality for the pharmaceutical industry. Additionally, Dr. Repka has used HME for patient centric delivery to pediatric, geriatric and special needs patients. This focus has led him to utilize Fused Deposition Modeling 3D printing to advance development and delivery of patient-focused complex dosages.
Dr. Repka has published >180 peer-reviewed publications in prestigious pharmaceutical journals. He serves on the Editorial Advisory Boards of six prestigious journals. In addition, he is an Editor for AAPS PharmSciTech and Associate Editor for the Journal of Drug Delivery Science and Technology. Dr. Repka has received various awards including a New Investigator Award and AAPS Fellow Award. He has presented at symposia/workshops >80 times over the last 10 years.
