Holly Johnson PT, DPT Cert.MDT graduated from University of Kentucky Physical Therapy Program in 1986 and received her transitional doctoral degree in PT from AT Still University in 2005. She has recently retired from a 32-year practice at PT Pros in Eastern Kentucky. Her management and clinical experiences include orthopedics, manual PT, sports medicine, industrial rehab, pediatrics, women’s health and geriatrics, advanced dry needling with expertise in chronic pain management, and treating patients in addiction. She has many years of experience in industrial marketing and consultation utilizing both WorkSteps and WorkWell programs. She developed and managed the PT Pros orthopedic new graduate and new clinic director mentoring programs from 2015 to 2018. In addition, over the last 10 years she has developed and trained PTs to assist in Global Heath Outreach medical mission trips to Central and South America.
She is currently developing PT treatment programs that focus on substance abuse and addiction recovery utilizing PT, pain neuroscience and behavioral health services. Additionally, she teaches a PT elective course on how PTs can successfully treat patients with chronic musculoskeletal pain (MSP), central sensitization and substance use disorder (SUD). She is also conducting ongoing research in this area of early intervention PT in MSP and SUD with the University of Kentucky.
She has served as the Kentucky Chapter Payment Policy Committee Chairmen since 2008, and on the PPS Payment Policy Committee since 2013. She has been a frequent speaker at PPS annual conference, and APTA Combined Sections Meeting representing PPS. She has recently presented lectures on successful preparation for alternative payment models for physical therapists. She provides PT consulting services through Johnson PT Consulting LLC.
