This talk will review the medical literature on the role of breast self exam and evolution to breast health awareness for early detection of breast cancer.

1. Discuss the medical literature on the role of breast self examination in breast cancer detection
2. Defining breast self awareness and patient- provider education
3. Distinguish between breast self awareness and clinical breast examination and educating women about the different clinical tools for early detection of breast cancer
