26 - Imaging of Transgender Patients

This lecture will review current and appropriate terminology when caring for the transgender patient. Surgical and hormonal treatments for gender confirmation will be discussed as well as the subsequent expected imaging findings after treatment. Current research regarding the risk of breast cancer in this population will also be reviewed. This lecture is image rich, from the perspective of a radiologist, and current recommendations for appropriate imaging studies, including screening and diagnostic imaging, will be discussed.

describe expected imaging findings in the treated trasngender patient.
understand current controversies in breast cancer risk and screening for the trasngender population.
order appropriate imaging for the asymptomatic and symptomatic transgender patient.
