Local health departments play key roles in developing policies, plans, ordinances, regulations, and statutes that protect and support individual and community health. Local health departments need political buy-in and support to enact necessary changes to keep their communities healthy and safe. In this session, local health officials and their local elected officials will discuss how they have partnered to make policy change to support their communities during a crisis. In addition, they will discuss how these relationships impacted their current response to COVID-19. Speakers will also explore opportunities to build support from state and federal partners.
