Michelle Burda’sexperience in healthcare spans from her past career as a clinical microbiologist to that of a medical and consumer health librarian. She has worked in both small community and large academic hospital settings providing medical and healthcare information to staff, patients and families. She is currently the Network and Advocacy Coordinator for the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, Middle Atlantic Region (MAR). In this position she is responsible for outreach and training to MAR members in NLM disaster and emergency preparedness information resources, health literacy for healthcare professionals and the community, managing MAR membership information and resource sharing including DOCLINE training.. She also is involved with promoting new roles for hospital librarians especially in the areas of patient safety and health literacy.
