Associate Library Director
Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine
Las Cruces, New Mexico
My name is Norice Lee and I am the Associate Director / Associate Professor of Medical Informatics at the Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine, Health Sciences Library, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from New Mexico State University and a Master's of Library and Information Science from the University of Texas at Austin. I possess over 35 years of academic library experience, primarily in library administration in the following library types: research university (extensive), community college, and now medical school. For a time, I also served as a Regional Branch Library Manager with El Paso Public Public Library, responsible for four branch libraries--one of which was a joint-use public/community-college library. Currently, outside of providing medical and health information resources, programming, instruction, and services to my college and community (which I view as an honor and privilege!), my professional interests include library assessment, planning and evaluation; copyright law and education; project management; and staff and organizational development. Throughout my career, I have continuously strived to improve the status of libraries in New Mexico and our border region (U.S./Mexico) in an effort to increase literacy and information access for all individuals, particularly among vulnerable populations.
