Evanston, Illinois
Kathryn Vanderzwan graduated with both her MS (Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, 2006) and DNP (2017) from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She has been teaching since 2012 and is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her scholarship focuses on simulation-based education methods to improve knowledge and practice. Dr. Vanderzwan plans to further evaluate the efficiency of nursing student handoff following high fidelity simulation, as simulation resources are readily available but underutilized at her institution and nurse handoff skills remain variable in pre-licensure students. She is currently serving as an expert consulant on Dr. Jennifer O’Rourkes grant entilted, “Validation of a Handoff Curriculum for Pre-licesnure Nursing Students.”
