This research introduces aerial inspections as an emerging and effective method to improve current stormwater inspection procedures, required by regulation to maintain the stormwater pollution prevention plan. Test flights and inspections were flown for the U.S. Highway 30 construction site in Tama County, Iowa. Preliminary results including hydrologic analysis, soil loss modeling, site plan production, and E&SC practice detection were obtained by using photogrammetry, GIS and deep learning-based object detection. This study integrates innovative tools and guidance for aerial stormwater inspections.
