Coir woven geo-textiles made out of coir threads in which each warp thread gets interlaced alternatively over and under by successive weft thread. Geotextile is used for the construction of road and road embankment with proper installation. It performs major functions of reinforcement, stabilization, and separation benefits of the road. The coir yarn will be convert into coir geotextiles by weaving. In Karnataka state constructed 110km of rural road using coir geotextiles which gives maximum utilization of coconut husk and give ample employment benefit to the rural youth. The roads constructed using coir Geotextile gives very good performance to the public. The lush green vegetation has been developed on the slope which protects the embankment by natural soil stabilization of the slope. The grown green grass can be used for local cattle feeding. The water harvesting ponds has been constructed using coir geotextiles. Rain water inlet has been provided in all the four directions of the pond so that the water will be filled into the pond from all the directions. The stored water can be used for any domestic purpose and also fish culture. In rural road construction the coir geotextiles act as reinforcement, drainage and separation. It avoids the formation of pot holes, cracks on the surface of the road. It enhances the road life and increased CBR value of the road. In the construction of embankment using coir geo-textiles gives natural soil stabilization. This reduces the usage of cement, steel and stone, its easy adoptable. The construction of water harvesting pond using Coir Geo-textiles gives very good results. The water storage capacity varies upon the size of the pond, Low water evaporation, water percolates easily, ground water table increases, coir fibre holds water for long time and helps to recharge of surface water, green technology, eco-friendly, economical.
