Per the TXR150000 Construction General Permit, routine stormwater inspections are performed at all ongoing construction projects in Texas. These inspections, and the routine in general, can be mundane and create an environment of complacency; especially when done for a long period of time. This presentation will demonstrate the value of conducting monthly stormwater audits for active construction projects to ensure compliance in not just Texas, but many other urbanized areas as well. Performing a monthly audit involves talking to the site supervisor and any on-site representatives, evaluating the SWPPP and on-site permits, reviewing previously completed inspection reports and map updates, and performing a site walk through. Implementing a schedule that includes both audits and routine inspections makes permit compliance more achievable and allows for a more robust understanding of not only day-to-day operations but of programmatic shortcomings.
