How to Revitalize Dead Soils to Achieve Permanent Vegetation
Do you struggle with obtaining a project site with healthy, thriving vegetation? Is the idea of finding a quality topsoil challenging? With dead soils all throughout the US, permanent sustainable vegetation is becoming more challenging as quality topsoil is becoming less available. Many engineers use outdated guidelines and approaches with little success and often spend additional money repairing areas that either failed to vegetate or suffered from moderate to severe erosion.
Fortunately, emerging technologies, such as Biotic Soil Medias (BSM) can make marginal dead soils suitable for vegetative establishment with significant cost savings to project stakeholders. BSM’s are designed to create a living, healthy topsoil by introducing soil building components, biostimulants, biological inoculants, and other soil building components into dead or denuded soils. When combined with effective erosion control materials, more cost effective and environmentally friendly reclamation can be accomplished. In addition, secondary benefits such as improved worker safety and reduced installation times makes BSM’s an attractive solution to achieving healthy permanent vegetation.
