In many coastal areas, FEMA currently produces regulatory flood maps based on surge risk. This approach does not provide mapping for coastal communities outside of the surge zone but subject to flood risk from rainfall driven events. The presentation will cover how Charleston, SC developed a planning level tool to identify these risk areas and how they are using it to assist with development plan review.
