The Value of Financial Planning: Developing a Holistic Theory to Guide the Profession

What is the value of financial planning? Practitioners and researchers need to grapple with this important question. However, the lack of theory development in the field hinders research and confuses messaging about the value of financial planning services. Therefore, this interactive session will focus on proposing a theoretical framework that can help guide the profession forward. Specifically, the objectives of this session are: (1) to familiarize participants research regarding the value of financial planning, (2) to discuss and brainstorm specific applications of this research in practice, (3) to present and discuss a holistic theory of personal financial planning.
