Dianne Cheung, MD MPH FACE ECNU, Assistant Clinical Professor, UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine, Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metablism is the clinical lead of the UCLA Health South Bay Endocrinology office in Torrance, California where she is a practicing clinical endocrinologist with a special interest in Diabetes and Thyroid Cancer.
She did her undergraduate work at UCLA where she received a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and was awarded Magna Cum Laude honors. She went on to pursue a Masters in Public Health in Health Education and Health Policy at UCLA, where she was also awarded the distinction of Highest Honors. She completed her medical school training at UC San Diego School of Medicine in 2004, and completed her residency training at White Memorial Medical Center/Loma Linda University in Los Angeles where she was Chief Resident in Internal Medicine.
Dr. Cheung returned to her UCLA roots and was accepted into the Endocrinology Fellowship program at UCLA, where she completed an additional two years of subspecialty training.
After fellowship, Dr. Cheung joined a successful endocrinology private practice in Torrance, CA and later becoming a partner, where she continued to be dedicated to providing quality care to her patients. She joined UCLA Health in 2012. Her practice is general endocrinology including diabetes and thyroid disease. Her area of interest is thyroid cancer, and she performs ultrasounds and ultrasound-guided fine needle aspirations of thyroid nodules in the clinic on a daily basis to evaluate thyroid nodules for malignancy. She enjoys teaching medical students and endocrine fellows, and has published articles on diabetes and thyroid cancer.
She is an active member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE), and has been very active in the leadership for the California Chapter of AACE, currently serving as the Chapter Treasurer.
